Hey all,
Just looking for opinions on these 2 knives; pros and cons of each.
Which is more heavy duty, better for EDC, general uses for each, etc.
I've owned a SERE 2000 in the past and sold it (don't know why)
Besides being a little bulky, I loved it.
Never handled a Shrike though.
I'm thinking of buying one of these and would just like some input from those of you who own one or the other, or both.
Thanks all,
Lenny

One more thing, I prefer tip up carry and the Shrike is only tip down.
I could, however, overlook that if there are other benefits that outweigh that fact.

I've owned both and personally prefer the Shrike to the SERE. While I will not degrade the SERE in any way when comparing it to the Shrike or any other blade, I just found it not to my liking. The main reason?....I didn't like the blade to handle ratio....nice big handle, but not enough blade, IMHO. Other than that, it is an awesome knife.

The Shrike fit the bill just right....blade to handle ratio, lightweight(but not too light), and overall design also allowed for the knife to 'become an extension of my hand'. I also didn't find the Shrike bulky at all for EDC, as compared to the SERE.

Why I let these two go, I will never know, but if I were to pick them up again, I would start with the Shrike.

I own a Shrike, and its F&F is superb as expected from an Al Mar folder.

Its flat-ground blade slices pretty well, and I had no problems with it performing EDC tasks (making sandwiches, opening mail) and cutting cardboard boxes, flex-ties during work.

The tip is needle-sharp and requires care not to damage or break it. The handle moulds with my hand very well.

Handled a SERE before, and it's definitely larger and feels heavier than the Shrike, the flared front handle guard should prevent your fingers from traveling past it.

The spear point blade and its tip should be tougher than the trailing point blade of the Shrike.

A short review of the Shrike.

Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it might be of use to you.
