I know not if this is a proper topic for this forum, but it seems like it might be suitable.

I was wondering if anyone can give me positive proof of any type of warranty on Al Mar knives. I've visited their page and I did not see any evidence of anything other than their store. Does anyone have any paperwork, etc? I am interested in purchasing the Al Mar SERE 2k as I feel it is a very solid and comfortable knife, but I would feel a LOT better about it if I knew it had some sort of backing behind it, besides its inherent quality.

Interesting question.
Other than the manufacturer's desire for continuing customer loyalty and good PR, I have seen nothing to indicate that there is a "warranty" except for the common law implied suitability for intended purposes.

I would like to see AlMar reply to this thread.

I have a NIB Al Mar SERE 2K setting on my shelf. No paperwork in the box. Gary Fadden, Al Mar CEO wrote a piece for Blade Magazine, it appears in the January 2001 issue, page 64. In it he states that "Our commitment to quality and design is now guaranteed with a new limited lifetime warranty effective on all new models starting in 1998." The SERE 2K falls in this catagory. You can request a catalog from their website. Inside the front cover of the catalog further states: "This new limited lifetime warranty is to the original owner. This warranty does not cover abuse to our knives such as a tip breakage, which is by far the most common form of abuse. This warranty is valid only through us here at Al Mar Knives where we will, at our discretion repair or replace any knife that we determine to be defective. The knife must be shipped to us prepaid with original bill of sale."

Hope this helps.

Al Mar's number is 503-670-9080. Maybe someone could call and ask?
