I just bought one of these... I like it... I was just curious what you guys think of this knife?? Thanks... Crazy Nicky

Baddest Assest Production blade,IMHO.

Good clean grinds, good steel (i cannot get it to rust, just a few small stains occasionally),and an awesome lockup.
Plus its incredibly tough. Ive dug for worms, split dry logs, and pried jammed shells out of a .22 with it.

Awesome knife.

I think it's a heck of a great knife. The one I have is very smooth, has excellent lock up, the VG-10 is about my favorite steel out there, and it's an all around pretty stout knife. My only minor qualms with it are that it's fairly heavy and the tip is a bit delicate for my tastes. VERY much a personal thing though.

You wanna hear a much more qualified opinion than mine, see what Jeff Randall has to say about it here: http://www.jungletraining.com/almar.htm

there's alot of folks that here that know thier homework better than me, but I personally have VERY rarely read one of Mr. Randialls articles that spoke so highly of a knife.

hope you enjoy your new knife and the forums!

actually thats quite funny... Jeff Randell's review actually persuaded me to buy the knife and the fact that Col. Nick Rowe developed the knife with Al Mar! Thanks boys... much appreciated!

I got a NIB one for 60.00 bucks off the forums. The knifes not bad,
just a little lean for me though.

I bought 3 CRKs at blade and my SERE 2000 was smoother out of the box than any of the CRKs after approx. 200-300 opening cycles on each of them!

crazy nicky: Do a search. You will find many past discussions about the SERE.

My SERE is one of my favorite folders. It is not my EDC (which is a Emerson Commander). However, the finish, smoothness and overall workmanship of the SERE makes it equal, in my eyes, to the Maxx 5.5. Both are are very close to custom quality in a production knife.

Enjoy your new SERE. It is a very nice knife.

I loved mine when I first got it. Sent my Dad one for his birthday a year and a half ago and he was absolutely thrilled, still is. I stopped carrying mine only because I have so many others to carry many of which have been of my own creation. My other favorite EDC though is the Strider AR. If you like the toughness and heftiness of the SERE, your jaw will positively drop when you handle an AR.

I have an Al Mar SERE 2000 on the way. I finally got to handle one at the Blade show and I was sold. It is a big knife but I was glad to find it fit my medium-sized hands. I wanted to test it in my pocket and walk around with it at Blade but I figured the guys at the Al Mar booth might not like that :D.

I plan to add the SERE 2000 to my shooting kit that I take to the range. I am somewhat ashamed to admit this but I just can't bring myself to use my expensive Sebenza at the range :(.

Good goo the knife is amazing. It is not the knife I carry the most, but it is one of the ones I like the most. And, if it means anything, it is the only one of my folders that I sprang for a G2 leather sheath for. Combined with the sheath it is absolutely amazing! I wear it all the time. For a blade suited to just about anything I don't think you can go wrong with one. If you don't like it you should not have a hard time unloading it here.
