Hello to all.
I'm looking for a very tough folder and I'm very tempted by the old version of the al mar sere, which is a lockback with a 4.5" blade.
What do you think of this knife ? Is it really as strong as it's size suggests ? My only concern is that the blade is made of aus6 which seems similar to 440A. Has anyone experienced edge holding problems with this steel ?

François.

Well,
nobody here has ever handled this knife ? Or was my first message so boring that no-one wants to answer ? If so, I'm sorry about this. English is not my mother tongue and I have great difficulties to express myself correctly, hence the lack of sparkle of my posts.
As for the knife, I think I'll buy it anyway because it feels really appealing to me. I'll let you know what I think of it : be prepared for a third soporific post !

François.

Well, it is a good looking knife that has a reputation for being very strong, but sadly I have never had one in my hands so I can't tell you any real details or impressions about it.

Don't worry about your english. It is better than that of a lot of people who grew up speaking it! :D

I've got a beat up old SERE Attack, the LE version with the neoprene scales. I had a beautiful Micarta handled version but sold it a couple years ago because it was too pretty for me to use. Don't worry about the steel, it sharpens easily and keeps an edge well.

Invest in a large "One-Armed Bandit" device if you can, which screws onto the blade and becomes a one-hand opening stud.

It's heavy and not really an in-the-pocket knife, but times are changing and more and more of us are carrying heavier knives in our pockets.

Buy the knife and enjoy it!
