I know the SERE concept(I think), but does anyone consider this knife to be anything other than a fighting knife? What about it would make it a good survival knife? Does it make a good fighting knife? If so, what about it makes it good? I know that Al Mar is a good make, but what makes this particular knife good?

It's a nice knife. Don't know if it's a good fighter, because I never fought with it.:)
As for utility, I think the tip is a bit too thin and fragile and the handle a bit too thin. It's a good knife for kitchen / outdoors eating duty.

The sheath, now that's something I don't like. Hard to describe, but it just doesn't work for me.

Here's a pic:

Kind regards,

It looks to me like it would make a good survival knife, though it would serve better in that role if there were no swedge (or is it false edge?) on the spine, IMO.

I think that is the point of me asking the question. I have one as well and have been fearful of using it because it does seem fragile. I was hoping someone would post that they have used it hard and it proved itself.

what do you mean by used hard? alot of people differ on what tasks a knife should be used for, or what constitutes abuse. if you have decernment, and judgement, this will serve you well.
