Just received my Al Mar SERE Operator yesterday.
AMK SERE SRO.

It was my first order from New Graham. Won't be the last order either. Very pleasant to deal with.
WWW.NEWGRAHAM.COM is their addy.

Very nice. I wanted a fixed blade EDC. I have a Single Shoulder Sheath coming from Robert at Survival Sheath.
WWW.SURVIVALSHEATH.COM is his addy.

S30V steel with Prylon slabs. Very sharp. Very pointed. The fit and finish are very good. Sheath is decent. I took the top part of the sheath off, and just used the "body" part. It would be nice as a large neck knife sheath, or IWB with the proper loop added. It comes with a large TEK-LOK so it could be worn OWB as well.

I am pleased.

Bought my Al Mar SERE Operator plain edge a few weeks ago. I really like the knife also. The S30V steel is great. Not that bad to sharpen. The balance is neutral and the 6oz. weight is hardly noticable. Heck, some of my folders weigh more. I can see why you'd want to have it as a fixed EDC.

Normally I'm not much on fixed blades under 6.5 inches, but the design was so balanced and clean that I just had to get it. My only concern was the Prylon handle, but its comfortable and the fit with the tang on mine is perfect. Can't even feel the transition.

Nice choice.

You bring up a point I forgot to mention. This knife is light. Very light. Very handy in the hands. Grip transitions are easy to accomplish as well.

I checked out the sheath you mentioned. Looks very nice. Probably the most comfortable way to carry this one, too. A good idea.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can legally use one like it in the Soviet Republic of California. Concealed carry over 4 in?? and all that.

I'd be interested to know how the whole knife and sheath / carry system works out for you and what daily uses you put it to. More for self defense?

I will let you know how it works out. I should be getting my sheath Monday. It is coming in the USPS. The weapons' laws in Louisiana aren't as Draconian as Kalifornia's. I also go home to Texas quite a bit, and the knife is legal over there. I'll be using it mostly for self defense. I am right handed. I'll be keeping it under my left armpit.

When I go out carrying concealed, I wear a t-shirt tucked in pants or shorts. I wear a short sleeved button up shirt over that as a "jacket". I keep it unbuttoned when I go out. I keep it buttoned when I am in the office. I always have some sort of defensive/offensive tool on me.

I post as Burt Gummer over at the Self Defense Forums.
WWW.SELFDEFENSEFORUMS.COM is the addy. I invite you to go take a look.
