I received my passport Friday and was very impressed. This is an extremely well made sturdy knife with a 4 inch blade a relatively slim profile. The handle is fairly wide so it is very comfortable in the hand despite the thin cross section. For people who don't like clips or who prefer pocket carry for any reason this is a great choice. It is 5 1/2 inches closed and rides well in either front or rear pocket. The one complaint I have is the opening stud is plastic and is right hand only. It has a phillips screw and appears to be reversible but since it is plastic I am leary about unscrewing. I may put a one armed bandit on it. Other specs: black aluminum handle, spearpoint blade with unsharpened upper bevel like the original SEREs and similar in shape to the Applegate combat folder. It seems with all the good new stuff out there people tend to forget Al Mar but they do make a great knife.

phantom4,

Did Al Mar use AUS-6 steel in the blade?
If it is,
let us know how you like the AUS-6 steel that is used in the blade. I personally don't care for that steel at all, dulls quicker than most other steels I have ever used and you can't get it razor sharp. Chips easily as well. Al Mar knives are nicely built, though!

Mark, the knife is not marked and there is nothing in the info that came with it to indicate the type of steel. I know a few years back that Al Mar used "AM6" which was an Al Mar proprietary steel. I'm not sure what its make up is.
