Al Mar SERE

As far as I know, they are still being produced...around MSRP if it is new I guess...

EDIT: Ah! I see! The SERE and the SERE 2000 are not the same thing...beats me then...:footinmou

Been years since I've seen one of the old SEREs. Smoky Mountain Knifeworks had a bunch of them when I was in high school. We used to go up there once or twice a year.

The original has been succeeded by the SERE 2000. As far as I know, the original is only available on the secondary market.

Oh, sorry. I have one guys. Shoulda mentioned that. Not looking to get rid of it though. Mar and Rowe are both gone now I believe. Honored to have it. Was just curious. Mine has the woodland camo pouch also.

DGrantD had a link to one posted for sale a couple of months back and several people commented on how they were just so well built. I believe the asking price was in excess of $400. The scales looked like cocobolo.

The newer 2000 ones are a variation on the original but it should be noted that newer knife designs coming out of the Al Sere design house are NOT by Al Sere as he passed away some years back. The company continues to carry his name however.

FTC,

Some of the designs coming out of Al Mar may still be Al's designs as he had hundreds of knife designs that never were made up. Check with Garry Faden at AMK and ask which of the newer knives were Al's designs waiting to be made reality finally given form?
