Im looking for a real durable rugged folder and have been considering getting an Al Mar SERE mini however I havent handled one yet and dont know much about Al Mar knives. If any of you own one or have any input I would appreciate it very much.

Ive been considering the purchase of the sere 2000 for a long time. Reading around the forums I havent seen much said about it that was negative, and there are a lot of positive things. I suggest you use your friendly neighborhood google and add site:bladeforums.com to the end of your query.

I have a SERE and a mini-sere. They are both built like tanks. Frankly the mini-Sere gets more carry; the SERE is just a tad too big for pocket carry for me. I would suggest you look at both--they offer typical Al Mar high quality and I don't think you can break them unless it involves abuse that would have long destroyed any comparable knife.

I owned the Mini SERE and I loved it. Awsome well built tool. I fully regret selling mine. It is the knife I would want if the shit hit the fan. Urban or backwoods.

Sere 2K has been my EDC for some time, but I switched to Bradley Alias 1 recently. Sere is an awesome folder but it is not an excellent cutter when compared with Bradley Alias, Spyderco Military or CR Sebenza. Apart from that, it is a damn solid knife with a liner lock just as solid as a frame lock.

nothing like the original al mar sere!

Al Mar knives are built very well, you would not be disappointed.

I have a Mini-SERE and plan on getting a SERE.
For the money, they are one of the finest folders made today. The workmanship is outstanding.

instead of going to a linerlock. Linerlocks are not, as a general rule, ambidextorous. Lockbacks are. shame Kopas aren't ambidextorous (lock is, clip isn't on the Al Mar Sere it's opposite, does anyone see the irony in this?). More Spyderco myopia.
