Hey guys, I just got my Shrike in the mail today ^_^ wow, beautiful knife, great design, and VERY SHARP! However, I just had some questions concerning maintenance and the knife in general (I'm a knife newbie in the purest sense!). Right now I'm using White Lightning Knife Lubricant, but the deployment on my Shrike isn't as smooth as I would like it, could you guys give me a couple tips on taking care of the knife and breaking it in? THanks! Oh and another thing, the blade seems to be leaning toward the liner away from the lock. I saw this happen on my Emerson MiniCommander and I was wondering what I should do about it. Could I take it into a knife shop and have them fix it? (the emerson's are relatively easy to fieldstrip but the al mar's are locked up tight, btw I sent the Emerson to the maker and had them fix it) THanks for your help guys!

That seems a bit unusual for the blade to be leaning ; check with
Al Mar Knives & BELIEVE me, if it's not right they'll FIX. As for lubricant(s), hell,I use 3-in-1 oil!
( wanna get some white lightenin'; heard it's TOPS ) on my blades.

Keep'em clean, keep'em sharp! ;)

AET ;)

I was wondering if I adjusted the pivot screw, would the blade (shrike) recenter accordingly? That's what works with my emerson. THe blade was leaning toward the liner so I just twisted the screw a bit and the blade re-centered. Any thoughts?

It's worth a try, but that's the only self-help I would attempt. Be careful about advice you might get about opening the blade and attempting "bending" the blade. That'll void your warranty.

This is a new knife. If it doesn't cut the mustard, send it back to Al Mar. Good luck with it. It's a nice, slick knife.
