Hi. I just traded up for a G-10 Al Mar Shrike. The knife looks to be in great shape, the clip is the question: the one on it is black and I've seen photos of a satin or silver clip around the web. Is this something I can order from Al Mar directly? I notice on their website the email version of contacting them appears to be down. And anyone know what the replacement, with matching screws would cost?

I like the looks of this knife, I'm looking forward to getting it.

Thanks,
Joe

I think they switched to the black clip when they started making them with G-10 scales, it looks like they're not even making the micarta ones any more. Your best bet would probably be to call them at the number on their website (503) 670-9080. These knives are made in Moki, Japan but there may be some parts available in Oregon.

BTW I have the micarta version and one thing is for sure, it is a slick and very cool knife. I'm sure you will like it.

I contacted Al Mar a few months back to get a black clip to replace the silver one on my older SLB. I think they charged me five dollars, and I got the clip in a few days. Very good service.

Thank you guys - the Shrike is on the way, I'll post a followup when it gets here.

OK - I picked up my Shrike this morning and have been playing with it for a couple of hours. First thing is: it's really sharp. Second is: it's smooth. The action is strong and tight. I adjusted the pivot and found a 'sweet spot' in adjustment very quickly. Third: the finish on the blade is excellent, and the G-10 scales are comfortable.

Regarding the clip: I might just leave it as is. It's made from strong steel and looks like the black finish is durable.

Overall: a nice knife for the collection. Highly recommended!

I've got one of the Ultralights (I forget which one, 3.25 half serrated blade) that I've had for 4 years or so. The black finish on the belt clip is wearing, and the logo is mostly gone, but dude, this is EDC on boats, worksites, and trailbiking. It's been through a lot. Finish is about 75% now.
