Dexter, do you know anything about these? Moteng describes it as "...a 4 in. VG-10 steel blade and black linen Micarta handle. Designed to fit the natural curvature of the users hand. Dual thumb studs and stainless steel pocket clip."

They don't have a pic though. Sounds interesting.
 
Hmm...it does sound interesting, no? :) Unfortunately I do not have any info on this. Maybe it's the Kirk Rexroat collaboration that has been bandied about for quite some time now? :confused: Please post if you come across more info and perhaps a pic. I'll do the same...

I emailed Kirk and got this response:

"Yes the Shrike is a design of mine that Al Mar is making. I talked to Gary last week and he said that it should be shipped by the end of the month. The construction of it will be almost the same as the S.E.R.E. It will have the heavy stainless liners, open back, VG-10
blade. The differences are that it will have black micarta for a handle and it will be a tip down carry pocket clip.

My thoughts on designing the knife was to have a knife that felt good in your hand about any way that you could hold it. Blade shape also, it has a narrow rather pointed blade that will work excellent for cutting and penetrating, and it had to look good both open and closed."

I still don't have a pic but asked Mr. Rexroat if he had a pick of the custom version he could send me. Sounds like it may be interesting.
 
Dennis - excellent detective work :) What do I win for guessing the correct answer? (Hint: the knife itself) :D :D Can't wait to see pics of it.

FWIW Kirk is supposed to have a fixed blade design out by Al Mar called the Nomad. I'm not sure what the status of that project is. Kirk sent me a couple custom prototypes for an article I did a long time ago, and they are pretty neat looking knives.

Dennis - any updates on the availability of the Shrike? I saw the new issue of American Handgunner yesterday and there is a new Al Mar ad with the knife in it. The ad verbiage says it is "available now". Today I got in touch with one of my dealer friends and put him on this case :D Any word on your end?? Thanks!
 
Last I heard should be around the end of the month, first of next month.
 
Looks pretty sweet.

Kind of like a more traditional-blade, ergo-handle S2k.

I'd have to handle it though... I really liked the AMK SERE 2k until I actually handled it a bit... for some reason it just didn't "sit" right, and the funny shoulders on the spearpoint wasn't doing it for me.

Promising, though!

Will do. It is coming from California via UPS. I should have it next week.

This usually isn't my style. I like recurves and knives with plenty of belly. For some reason this one really appeals to me.

They're out already?! A dealer friend of mine told me that his distributor said they won't be out till November...!
