Does anyone have one of these?
These are made in Seki, Japan apparently. I have the version that was made for Al Mar, and bears his markings. My knife has a leather handle, and is in perfect condition. I am considering using it, but I want to know if it is capable of taking abuse. I know it's a fighting knife, but there isn't much fighting to be done around here, so I may take it on camping trips.
Does anyone know if the tang is thick enough to withstand chopping if that were necessary? As is apparent in the picture, the handle is held on by a nut at the end of the tang.
The knife was a gift, and is worth a few hundred dollars, but I don't want to have it sitting around collecting dust. BTW, my sheath is black leather, and tapers slightly toward the end, unlike those in the picture.
Thanks,
