Greetings!
Can anyone tell me about the Al Mar Quickclip or 4x4 tool? I know these two beautifully made tool knives are no longer in production, but when were they discontinued? Or more specifically, about when were they actually introduced?

Any info or opinions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
~Bob

Above is an Al Mar QuickClip tool knife, with a single blade, pliers, and a belt clip. Beautiful workmanship, as with all Al Mar products.

I'm hoping to learn a bit more about this knife and it's stablemate, the 4x4. I've inquired with Al Mar Knives, but have not received a reply. Can anyone tell me when they were produced, or how recently they were discontinued?
Thanks,
~Bob

I remember seeing these early on in the multitool days. As with all Al Mar product that thing was SHARP, IIRC these were made in the days that the original SERE knives were still being made which has not been for many years. If you have that one and the 4X4, you have some great Al Mar history.

Sorry I cannot add more.

Thanks cerberus.
Actually, I do have the QuickClip (#148 of 200) and the 4x4. In addition, I've also got an Al Mar 4x4 with fancy scroll engraved side panels done by Bob Valade. I see reference to other "Valade" Al Mar knives:

but so far haven't found any info on the engraved 4x4 tool knife.

This is a photo of the Al Mar 4x4 Tool Mate. It is somewhat similar to the Al Mar QuickClip, but has an additional serrated knife blade and a regular screwdriver, and no belt clip.

Anybody have any info or recollection on when these tools were produced?
Thanks,
~Bob

Thanks for the update with picture. It is good to see them again. My knowledge is spent though. I think they should bring them back as well as the SERE in a better steel, say A2. I missed out on Al Mar's on the first go round when Al was still alive and then they were snapped up and holed up after his death. I know this guy that gets #27 of everything they produce and has some REAL nice pieces.

Wow, I'd like to see some of your friend's "number 27" collection!

Does he have any of the fancy engraved-handle knives that Bob Valade did for Al Mar? Apparently Bob worked his magic on several Al Mar models, which were released in extremely limited quantities. Some are still available here or there. (See link I posted earlier in this thread.)

This is an Al Mar/Valade 4x4 tool knife with the scrolled side panels.

(Here again, I have no idea how many were produced, nor when exactly they were produced.)

I have not see all his collection, just a bunch of his large fixed blades and just enough of the other Al Mar models to we the appetite. I have not seen
anything like that but that does not mean he does not have it.

Man though, that looks to nice to use though. If we keep this at the top, I am sure that some other Al Mar experts are bound to chime in :D

Well,I'm doing my bit to keep this thread at the top.I know next to nothing about the Al Mar tools.Am I right in guessing they were tools that deserved a better fate? ------Now that's a new thread to consider, the tools that have come and gone, and did they deserve their fate.

Looks like I'm not generating much interest here guys. I will start this thread over again soon in the Multi Tool forum and see what we can find out there.
