Just recieved one of these off Ebay and wanted to share my impressions. First off it's like a feather, no surprise given the name :D . The lock up is excellent especially vertically, no discernible play at all. It feels surprisingly solid given the weight and no steel liners. Sharp does not even begin to describe it. Right up there with most of the Spydies I have purchased. Very thin blade, flat grind, hair poppin' edge........it cuts to say the least. The black micarta looks beautiful and tasteful. Very carbon fiberish up close. I think it will make an excellent gentlemen's folder that will disappear in your pocket. Just wish it used VG10 for the steel but time will tell what Al Mar's heat treat of AUS8's like with use. The thin blade and flat grind might help make up for a little for any lack of edge holding. I didn't expect much from it and was nicely surprised.

That's good to hear; I want to get the larger Eagle. Nice lines and Micarta handles. I was wondering if no liners was a big thing, but for a slicer, I don't think it's that big an issue. For the MSRP, it probably should have a better steel than AUS8, but overall, I like the looks.

I agree as far as the steel's concerned. They use VG10 and S30V in a lot of their other blades, why not this one?

I think a better steel would encourage a level of abuse that could cause failure of the unlined micarta handle. I've had my Falcon Ultralite for many years, and it holds an edge quite well. The sharp edge and thin grind reduce the force needed for cutting to the point that the lack of liners is no detriment.
