Al Mar warranty?

I'm once again interested in possibly getting a Sere 2000. Perhaps it's my imagination, but ones I've handled recently seem a bit better than the early ones (all good knives, but newer ones seem to have better lockup (??).

It's an awesome knife, but asking at the shop, they couldn't find any warranty info with the knife. There wasn't a slip of paper included with the Al Mar, only a fairly plain brown box with the logo on it.

I have checked the Al Mar website but it's not very good and isn't helpful at all. I would like to know how is their warranty department, and how are they contacted? Not that I would expect any problems with their knife, but IMO it's important to know how a company will back up their product if it becomes necessary.

Also, can the owner easily tighten any screws on the Sere 2000 that may loosen over time himself, or must it be sent in for adjustment? Any info on this is much appreciated.

The only experience I had with Al Mar was when I sent back my six year old Osprey (that was on my key ring getting beat up by keys and coins) for repair.

The back lock didn't lock any more (because of neglect and pocket lint).

They sent me back a brand new one; no questions asked. :)

Al Mar is a reputable company. I believe they would stand behind their product. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I just got this knife and was thinking the exact same thing vauge website and no paperwork. Not having handled one before buying I was going from BF reviews only. I could not find a single complaint. When I looked at it for the first time I was very impressed. I do not see how you could hurt it. Heavy duty to say the least. A very quick action without being loose, it wont come open unless you want it to. A solid lock. Very sharp. The polished blade will so scratches easily but who cares if you plan on using it for what it was designed to do.

I know what you mean. I bought a SERE 2000 a year ago, and thought there had to be a mistake: no papers, warranty, nothing. After carrying it for a couple of months and getting used to the feel of this knife...I bought another! :D geegee

I purchased a SERE from a fellow forumite and it also
had no paperwork in the box. I wondered what happened
to the paperwork but now that I've read this post I feel
better knowing it never had paperwork. Yeah their
website does suck!

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
I suppose if there ever is a warranty problem I could try snail mail. I think the guy at the shop mentioned there is a new address now for Al Mar (not at Lake Oswego anymore??).

I will save up for awhile.
