I have an original Al Mar "Warrior" knife. A friend who was at first in the market for the current version of this knife, the Spiderco Warrior, is interested in buying my Al Mar.

My Warrior is 13 1/4" from tip to pommel with a 7 1/4"x1/4" stainless blade (440C , if memory serves me).

I would rate it at 97-98% condition - it has some superficial scratches on the blade which look like the result of the knife being laid on a rough surface and unintentionally bumped or moved.

As far as I can tell, it has never been used, sharpened or carried (I bought it several years ago from the original owner, who I have lost contact with).

The rubber grip is in like new condition and the leather sheath is in excellent condition with no wear other than superficial handling marks.

I am trying to determine an accurate value for this knife, in case I decide to sell it to my buddy. He is a good friend, so I want to offer it to him at a fair price.

Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

That is a rare and highly collectible knife, although our economy has put a dent in knife values lately.

I'm guessing somewhere between $300-$450 in today's market.

imho ANY blemishes detract from the value to collectors, to bring top dollar a knife MUST be in LNIB shape, unless its something really really rare/desirible(and even if it is rare/desirible buyers will complain about blemishes and use them to get ya to lower the price FWIW), thats said the warrior is fairly rare i havent seen one for sale in a while, IIRC the last one i saw sold in the $350-$400 range, it was in LNIB shape though, since yours is in not quite LNIB shape i would deduct 10% or maybe 15% from that, just depending on exactly what the condition is.

Hello:

I like the Warrior design and have been collecting them for a while now. In fact, I just got a new BNIB Spyderco myself for a really good price. As far as the value goes - I've seen them go for anywhere from $150.00 to $400.00 or so in LNIB condition. It really depends what your buyer is willing to purchase it for. I would pay up to $200.00 for the knife you currently have if the scratches were truly minor. If they seriously detracted from the finish I would probably go up to $150.00. But that's just what it's worth to me.

At the end of the day, only you can decide what the knife is worth to you (for example, if you're trying to fund the purchase of a new Spyderco) Currently they aren't so rare that you can't find one pretty easily on various auction sites and forums (take a look right now in fact). If I have my information correct the blackened version is a little more rare than the satin model, and the camouflage version is rarer still.

I hope this helps.
