I just ordered the wortak from Al Mar. I was planning on either a sere 2000 or a shrike. Any advice on which edc I should get. Are there major pros/cons to either model. I know the sere has a pretty good rep, but I like the 4" blade of the shrike. Any info would be appreciated.

Al Mar has a pretty good reputation for hard use knives, but what do you want one for? If you're looking for daily utility, the Shrike might beat out the SERE, which is originally a survival/rescue design. Have you seen the Nomad? It's smaller and a more civilian design.

Mostly I want one to get an Al mar mini-collection going. I don't plan to use it in a survival situation, light edc duty some days, in the display mostly.

The SERE is awesome and even though it is large the clip design on it is the best deep pocket carry design on the market and the knife carries better than any knife in it's size range. The Shrike is close in size to the SERE and not quite as heavy duty but close. The Nomad is smaller but still built stout, The only problem with the Nomad is if your hands are beefy then your fingers will be a tight fit in the finger cutouts near the blade other than that it's a great knife. Any of these are great built knives and you may also want to look at Al Mar's Talon and Ultralight knives, I have one of them I have carried EDC for several years and love it for light duty and dress carry.
