Got my first Al Mar today. Its a Mini S.E.R.E 2000. I org. ordered the full size one and the company I ordered it from goofed up and sent the wrong one. Oh well Im happy with it and it was only a few $$ lost. Anyway I havnt took it out to play yet but plan on it. I like it alot fit and finish are awesome no blade play at all. I recommend this for a small hiking/camping folder

I've got a couple of Al Mar folders and they are top quality. That dealer ought to at least refund the price difference for their mistake. If you're happy with what you got I guess there's no need to return it.

i have had almars around me most of my life. my father has some of the ultralight jobs from the 80's and i have always liked them...

well i got the sere 2000 about two years ago and i have been sold...SOLID is a word that gets close to describing the knife...OVER BUILT is another one...FANTASTIC...again...WICKED SHARP... just a few words

it holds a great edge and feels great in the hand

but i do have some complaints...

stiff opener...
the sharp edges on the liners towards the inside of the knife
the smallish thumb studs

but my god it makes up for those shortcomings every time i use it.

its been used at 37000 feet ( more times than can be counted)
gut squirrels
stabbed a ferral pig
whittled wood with my nephew
cut steaks for dinner
trimmed loose strings from my uniform
cut god knows how many flex cuffs off
removed shoestrings, belts, string necklaces, rope belts and id bracelets from countless individuals.

and it still looks new and is scary sharp.

i endorse the almar sere series of folding pocket knife. hell yes i do!

I've been wanting a mini SERE 2K for a while now. I liked the large version but the handle seemed too big. The mini seems perfect.

I think ROCK6 has one of those in automatic. Sweet.

I do...it's a nice auto, but I'll be honest...I'll probably pick up a regular SERE 2000. I did some battoning with the auto and the button lock failed; not a huge issue, but it doesn't instill confidence. I'll reserve it for cool-factor duty carry, but for serious bush use, I'll carry a regular locking folder.

I also have an original Al Mar SERE...found in it in a gun/pawn shop in Augusta, GA:

Ive carried the Falcon and Eagle ultralites for 10+ years and used them hard. Still nice and tight. I actually lost the Eagle in a cornfield and found it a year later. One scale was a little sunbleached but no rust and still tight. Good knives.--KV
