Hi guys ~ just wanted to drop in a plug for Al Warren knives. Very talented maker out of California. A very nice gentleman to deal with and will work with you in design. His waiting list isn't too bad either. If if recall, I waited about 4 or 5 months for this one which showed up this weekend. Wanted to get a pic before it goes into the pocket and the bolsters get scratched up. It does come with a serviceable suede pouch however should you wish. And this guy knows how to sharpen too. Cut myself right off. ;)

Anyway, if you are considering a custom, perhaps give his wares a look. This is his take on the copperhead. I asked him to add a nail nick on both sides of the rear blade to help with opening, but it isn't bad anyway. Maybe a 4 or 5 pull. About like a Soldier I would say.

I know I needed another EDC like a chicken needs........a saddle, but I'm weak with no self control when it comes to knives. I need to join a group or something maybe. You guys certainly aren't helping. Lol.

Joe

Great looking ! What's the closed length?

Mike

Thank you for the kind words, but Al deserves the credit. Very skilled. This is what he sent me with the pics of the completed knife to be sure I was ok with it. Only thing I requested was the extra nail nick which he happily added for me. It does help with opening I've found, and it lets you get a blade out with either hand. Kinda like Fallkniven does with theirs - nicks on both sides. I erred in an earlier post when I replied they were ATS34 blades.

"It is 3 1/2” closed. Those are real sambar stag scales and the blade steel is S30V tempered to 58 Rc. In the past I’ve made some single blade slipjoints with extremely heavy blade pulls, so now I lighten them up. This one has a medium pull.
I can easily put another nail nick on the other side of the wharncliff blade and then send a photo."
