New to knife making and Alabama Damascus. Is there a previous thread to finishing this steel? Etching and sealing or polishing to eliminate the oxide coming off on food. Thank you ia

If you use the Custom Search Engine in the stickys and search "Finishing Alabama Damascus" you will get plenty of info.

Thanks for the welcome! Knife making has been a long awaited hobby. Forging is a way down the road. Handle asseembling is my extent at the moment. I was never a big forum guy thats my fault for the vast info thats out there. Ill have to learn my way around! Lol Ill get my profile filled out! Thanks again!

Sure thing. Don't hesitate to ask any question you need info on. The learning curve is a lot faster with hundreds of teachers and examples to follow.
When I started 65 years ago, there were no forums, internet, books, knife suppliers, or other knifemakers. A phone call much farther than your town limits cost money, and required an operator. Calling another state was expensive. Calling Germany, Australia, South Africa, or Czechoslovakia would be more than most kids earned mowing lawns for a month or two. Today that is all a few pushes of buttons away.
