Knifeup.com has knife laws for all states. Unfortunately, they are not always up-to-date.
According to knifeup, in Alabama, everything is legal except "concealed Bowies and Bowie-like knives".
Under the Bowie-like knife category, even butcher knives have been classified as Bowie-like in Alabama courts, not surprising since Jim Bowie's original Bowie, made by Jim's brother Rezin for Jim, was described by Rezin as " 9 inch straight blade with a small guard, like a butcher knife....".
Open carry of a Bowie knife or a Bowie-like knife is legal.
