Alain is making me a sub-hilt Wilderness with modern walrus ivory scales. One advantage of having a Canadian maker make me a knife is that I don't have to worry about import restrictions on ivory.

Here are some photos that he took. The first photo shows what kind of steel is being used. He also took some photos of him working on the knife that I will post later.

This one looks really promising! Alan sure can grind, love those deep hollows...

I'm not crazy about the way Alain nips in the butt on these knives, and hopefully he will see this and give a practical reason for it. The Loveless-shaped butt is specifically for handle retention.

Really beatiful, aspect with impatience the photos of the ended knife:thumbup:
I didn't know this knifemaker, I have found his web site he builds some beautiful knives-
Thanks Keith

Alain does make the point on the bottom of the butt a little smaller than Loveless, but with a sub-hilt, I don't think that will have any effect on handle retention.

That looks like a lovely project.

Keith - what's that dagger in your avatar?

it'll be nice to see the end product , so far is just great .

Here are a few photos of the finished knife.

The black lines are naturally occurring cracks and they do not go all the way through the scales.

I read once that cracks are what you call them when they're on another guy's knife, but if they're on yours they're called checks:D

that is a swell looking knife.
