Has anybody seen or better yet have a pic of the knife they will be using in the upcoming Movie?
Have always been a Big Bowie fan and am dying to see which version they use. The trailers I have seen so far have only shown quick glimpse (sp) of the false edge.

I don't know the maker, but it is a "Musso" style Bowie. Joe Musso is one of several people who claim that they own an authentic "Bowie". The film producers may have received input from Musso on which knife to use. I don't know if they did or not, but the knife shown is patterned after his.

Atlanta Cutlery sells a version of it also. I believe they list it as a "Primitive Bowie". James Keating once wrote that the Atlanta Cutlery piece was a decent fighter if it was sharpened properly.

Hope this helps.

There was an article a month or two ago in a knife magazine about the knife and the maker. Of course I can't remember the magazine or the makers name. It was no one I've heard of, but they said he makes a lot of movie blades.

First, here is a link to the Chuck Stapel knife that was the subject of a what was,to me, a somewhat misleading article in "Knife Magazine". You can click on the magazine article and then on the specific Stapel page for his discussion of the knife and judge for yourselves. Both of those secondary links are on this primary link: http://stapelknives.com/BB.html

Here is an authorized publicity picture from the film's site, showing the knife used in the film. It is clearly of the Musso type and similar to the one that Atlanta Cutlery sells as its "Primitive Bowie". http://www.thealamofilm.com/samplep...id=11&parent_id=0&photo_id=319&countdisplay=4

If it were me, I'd want the second one, and I do want one. I am saving for an order from Atlanta. Tenbeers, thank you for your note about the Keating comment. I have long been looking at the Altanta Cutlery Bowies, but they are, by and large, products of Windlass Steel in India, which does not have the greatest of reputations for its quallity control. But I think that I shall take a risk and try one, for that knife is exactly what I have long sought. :)
