I ordered a knife from him a couple of months ago and he said it would be sometime this winter before he gets around to it and you know how long those winters are up north! It sounds real neat with bearing pivots and all.............

Hello,

Non Prototype stage means,,,the blueprints are still in my head at the moment,,,, i am going to make the balisongs with
Screw Adjusted piviots and Roller bearing bushings,,should be smooth as silk i hope!!,, still havent decided on handle materials yet,,,maybe G-10, Carbon fiber ect...

i think for the blades im going to try to offer some CPM alloys to start,,, and then for production maybe 154Cm, BG42. This winter is going to be when i start them going as i have to much fixed blade stuff right now to do.

regards,,, Allen (This is "from the horses mouth" as they say

You know, as much as it seems like it would be good, I haven not had good results with ball-bearings (oh, and this is not a new idea). In actuality, they end up being slower. The trick to speed is to polish the inside of the blade holes and polish the pins. Smooth surface against smooth surface is the key, not ball-bearings.

Ball-bearings also atract dust and dirt and are very hard to clean.

Balisongs -- because it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!

My custom balisong with bearings between blade pin aand handles serves quite well to ultra smooth action. However, it has got a little (very little) play. The maker said he gave so much effort in installing the bearings into the balisong he never make another again.

IMHO a thrust bearing (do I use the terminology correctly?) applied instead of washers will be more fruitful. Any high pressure to pinch the blade in the handle will not bother blade / handle movement. The blade pin will take no shock from twirling as the bearings absorb all the force.

I'm no maker but user, so I can't say anything about making difficulty. Just hope any of my comment helps you.

Did you enjoy today?

We need Larry Chew to make a butterfly with his VooDoo! Needle-roller thrust bearings riding on thrust washers; no play and ultra-smooth!!!! Clean with an air gun......

Has any one seen Allen's sight latley. I have it as one of my favorites and check for new stuff often. Today it is no longer there?
It may just be a temp. problem? I was just wondering what was up. Does any one know?

I just read in another post that Allen is having trouble with AOL nad that is why his sight is down. Bummer!
