I am a bit cautious posting this as the other thread was moved to GB&U. But my post concerns certain knives, and knives ONLY. As far as the other stuff goes, it is to be posted in the original thread now in GB&U.
What I'm asking is about is this maker Alan Harvey. I checked my 2010 Knives Annual and did not see his name listed, but I'm unsure as to how much bearing that carries.
The knife I am referring to is a model called the H-1 Linerlock knife. It is available in several handle materials, and I am specifically looking at the Green G-10 model. It uses screw and peening to be put together, screw construction on the pivot, and to put the liners together, while the handle material is peened on to the titanium liners. It seems to be a heavy duty knive, and that is what I like! The liners are .090" thick, blade is 4.75" long X .157" thick, with the closed knife measuring 5.0", which would be an almost 1 to 1 ratio between blade and handle. That measurement may be wrong though. A big deal is made about the 7/32 stop pin being larger than normal and better than smaller ones. Again don't know just how much difference this makes.
I really like the design of the knife, although it doesn't have a pocket clip. It really reminds me of the Kershaw Speedform, just bigger! The pictures show the knife from several angles and the knife really looks good in the pics, and since pics can be manipulated, I guess ( I don't know my butt from a hole when it comes to pictures), it may not actually look that good. I'm posting a link to this particular knife and I'm not doing this as a deal spotting action, because I don't know if it is a deal!!
I'm just asking if anyone has heard of this fellow, or company as it says these are made by Americians, plural. Or perhaps someone actually has one of these I would like to know what you think of it. Also for anyone clicking on the link and enlarging the pics, what do you think about this knife.
I am interested about this one, due mainly to design, and build, and have taken chances on unknown, and expensive knives before with good results. So any info you can add would be appreciated!
