I'm not sure if this show has been discussed here. My wife had it on the other day. I had seen bits and pieces of a few episodes, but I have never watched an entire episode until now. The first thought I had was, "Are these clowns for real?". For a family that 'lives in the bush' it seems like they were shocked over simple things that should be second nature for a person that lives in a forest.

It turns out the show is a fake! My wife looked into it and the people of the town Hoonah hate the cast and crew. They sleep in a lodge in 'town' not in the bush. Hell, some of the people in town were paid to build the house for them. There is a whole bunch of articles about it being fake. What next--Deadliest Catch fake? :D

What's the one child's name? bear, or wolf. Lol and he runs and digs in the woods like a wild animal. Pretty hilarious stuff.

Parents say, he was always like this, since he was a child. Lol

They never claim to have any money but I'm pretty sure they aren't doing this show for free. Let's assume 50K per show for the entire family (Chumlee from Pawn Stars supposedly makes 25K per show so 50k for the family is modest imo). They have done 15+ shows so 15 x $50,000 = $750,000. Yet the last episode I saw they try to barter for dental work since they didn't have any $. Hmmmmmmm

If they wrote a check or used a debt card for the dental work, something tells me that people would react negatively about that. After all, they are supposed to be poor and just scraping out a living in the woods.

I read the same thing about the lodge before. I wonder when those Brown boys work out? Seems like they are pretty muscular rascals.

In the latest episode, I believe Billy Brown bought the 62 ft boat. Being so "poor", I can't imagine they can pay for all the fuel that it will consume assuming it just doesn't break down all the time. I enjoyed this episode. There was a certain enthusiasm that you just couldn't help seeing when he was checking out the boat. He mentioned he would have to get a bank loan.... well, that makes for the story line, but I feel sure with the family proceeds from the show that he can write a big check if he wants to. Noah went out on a blind date and I have to laugh... they went to the swing set to swing and visit as a date.

People all over the world from Asia to Africa live like that. Not just a village or two, but whole provinces or countries. No one writes them big checks, even when they come to film them.

It's ironic, though. Poverty, ignorance, war, starvation, ... and cellphones.

Did anyone catch the season finally? When the "bears" tore up the camp. This show is like a car wreck....you just have to look.

Bear is a strange young man. Do bears steal batteries? Wasn't it last season that they were "shot at" and left? It really is a joke.

I have been contacted by six production companies wanting to do a series on hunting for mammoth tusks in Alaska. I know ar least 10 people who have been in reality shows. It seems if you have an interesting life in Alaska you will be approached to be involved in a show. I have no interest in being part of a reality show.
I talked to a producer who came up here last year about the business end of the industry. I was told the budget for the first year is$ 200, 000 + and can be many times that if it goes into multiple seasons. They try to pay as little as possible. I have been quoted $200 per day.
My friend Jimmy Gados (who was murdered this spring) was in a Nat Geo survival show told me all contestants made $25,000. I do not have cable but from what I understand almost all of them are scripted.

I think most are scripted. Alaskan Bush People is far better than that TLC show "I'm Jazz". Don't get me started!

I'm rather captivated by the boy's search for love in the wilderness! It's a pretty amusing show. I must have low standards....

These bush boys don't even know how to act around normal girls. I don't know how common this is in Alaska. What's your favorite movie? Seven Brides for Seven Brothers..... simply amazing.

I actually have enjoyed the show. This business of their camp being torn up by "bears" just has me scratching my head. Makes absolutely no sense. I guess they'll sink their $5000 boat next. That boat did not cost only $5000. They have to appear "poor".
