I was wondering if anyone knew what the Alaskan knife laws are. Or had a good resource for finding that out. Perhaps someone that lives in Alaska might respond! I would REALLY appreciate it.TIA!

Those are clear as mud. I was hoping that perhaps someone who lives in Alaska might respond. I would like more specific info.

I don't live there and IANAL, however I did read that Alaska allows concealed carry, of a handgun, without any sort of permit. Seemingly then, any sort of knife carry should be permissible. You know how the laws go though... "well sir, that .44 magnum inside your waistband was fine but that 5" fixed blade strapped outside your thigh is a problem."

I live in alaska and I can tell you pretty assuredly that the only law that applies to us here in alaska is the fact that you can't carry a auto or gravity assisted blade. Everything else is A-Okay. Length doesn't matter. Alaska weapon laws are pretty lenient. Something about Alaska basically being a wild animal environment where the need to protect yourself from them is higher.

I live in Alaska too. While yillin essentially is correct there are some caveats. The concealed carry law prohibits carrying weapons into quite a number of places, including banks, bars, schools, Federal buildings, courts, and some other places. I routinely carry a folder into all of the above except those locations with metal detectors. Even then some are okay. You can carry a folder into a Federal building as long as the blade is 2.75 inches or less. No knives are permitted in public schools and court rooms. As with anything, no rule covers all the situations.

Hello! I carry my big knife with me everywhere I go in California but I know for a fact its legal for me to carry my sword here in California as long as I don't conceal it. I am about to go on vacation to Alaska & I am wondering if any Alaskan residents can tell me if I will get into any trouble with my sword if I go out in public with it? I really need it for my photoshoot engagement session with my girl friend.

You will be shot.
By a tourist, using a camera!
But really, cops and troopers will probably just laugh at you.
Good luck!!!

Knives in schools.... depends on the school, technically they're not allowed, my daughters school, lots of people carry in pocket or open.

I wouldn't worry about any knife you're carrying so long as you aren't trying to stab someone or acting the fool... Pocket clips aren't cause for search... Carrying a sword pretty much anywhere will get looks because it's not normal... Carry a pistol anywhere and no one will bat an eye.
