I've seen a few threads on these, but the one I ordered for a buddy came in today and I snapped some pictures that I thought I'd share. I'm hoping to get to beat on this a bit, as its going with us on our upcoming "vacation". The complaints about the cramped grip are valid, its not as comfortable as the WD its pictured with, but my hand fits it just fine. There's just not very much variation in how you can hold the thing. OK, pics speak for themselves hopefully.

OK, I thought someone may be wondering about weight/balance. The 511 is 1/4 oz heavier (6 5/8 oz) but feels substantially heavier because it balances about a full inch ahead of my index finger, whereas the WarDog balances exactly where my index finger sits. The pictures should show what I mean.

The 511 would probably be a better all-purpose camp knife than the WD. I think it'll swing a little better for small chopping jobs. But for stabbing and prying (which is what I bought it for) the WD should be superior.

Agreed. I like the pics and the rundown. I have grown to really like the 5-11. Ideally, it'd be 1/4" longer and have a choil, but what can you do. I did get a nasty bite when I first got the blade, but it has taught me to be more precise when reaching for a choil. Maybe someday, I'll be able to use a blade without a choil. I always inadvertently cut myself when trying to use any of my choil less blades.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Basic-10, because I ordered one of each.

I am on the commuter rail on the way to NH right now to camp with a buddy, and I chose to make it a SY weekend; I brought the new to me SY Muk (pantless, but not for long,) my Dog Father, and my 5-11 (could've brought INFI, but I'm starting to really like carrying my SYKCO blades.) If I remember I'll take some pics this time, since I actually have a nice camera finally.

Sorry for the tangent. Have some fun with the blade before you give it to your friend!

I traded mine for a HRLM as the handle was to small for my hand.
