Alaskan Back-up

I had a good customer in Alaska want to add another knife to his Andersen Forge arsenal.
His interest was in a substantial "back-up" blade for when in the bush.
She's a pretty basic platform Andersen Forge W2 knife.
I really wanted to show you what my good friend and sheath maker Scott Teaschner came up with to tote this thing around!
He was the first to admit to me that the customer's input was as important as anything else.
The customer's ideas lead him to this:
(The two points of contact keep the sheath/knife at a constant angle without being uncomfortable like a pancake stye, or floppy like a single loop.) And looks like she's built tough!!

It's beautiful and clean, the sheath is very well crafted and looks really handy and durable. Great job!

I was just recently thinking about a sheath like that. Very practical. Nice no nonsense knife too, attractive and practical. :)

1. socks on a rooster

socks on a rooster- something with poor fit or poor workmanship. Looks really bad.
That paint job on that car looks like socks on a rooster!

Neater than socks on a rooster and as handy as a pocket on a shirt is the correct redneckology. Just to clear that up. lol

Arkansas definition:
socks-on-a-rooster
1. indespensable item, esp. southern rooster on northern hunting expedition

Example 1: "A spare tire'd be handy as socks on a rooster 'bout now"

Example 2: "An ATM at a knife show is handy as socks on a rooster"

Love the knife Karl...one of my favourites of yours:thumbup:

I think clean looking un tooled sheathes are under appreciated, this is beautiful. Classy knife as well, but you knew that

Thank you, Joe.
That's a lot of knife right there. Especially for a belt carry, and that's how we got to this type of cross-draw package.
I think it was 7 1/2"+.
When I originally posted this knife, before I sent it to Scott, I think I quoted the customer as saying this was his last resort "Griz" knife. (He fishes a lot in back-woods Alaskan streams.)
He said he knew that if his side-arm didn't deter the griz, this probably wouldn't, either.
But, he wanted those who found his remains to know that he went down fighting!!

Super, Karl! Great package. I like Scott's sheath. What's your blade length?

- Joe

Great knife and sheath Karl!! I think if my pistol didn't do the job on a charging Griz I may use this blade on my own neck... just to make it quick and clean. :O

Just kidding... I'd hate to try and defend myself closeup against a hungry or angry Grizzly bear... :black_eyed::cower:

Beautiful blade. The sheath is what really grabs my eyes though. Spectacular.
