just curios do any of you fellows have the alaskan crosslock with the s30v i dont have any of the crosslocks but this one looks like it might be something worth having

Hi buckman#10,

I used to EDC an old style crosslock 180. Long before the Alpha's came to be. I love the crosslock knives they are light and work very well. I'm sure the Alpha style with SV30 would be even better!!!!

Did I ever tell you the story of butchering a 1200 lbs Bull with only my Buck 180:O. True story by the way and some what funny.

If I were a hunter, this would be a must have knife. A great S30V blade and a second blade which is a saw with a gut hook. WOW  However, I'm not a hunter, so the standard Code 3 crosslock with a second serrated blade would be a better knife for me, even if it only comes in 420HC steel.

Sounds like I am slipping... Something new out there I haven't seen yet.

Is this one at Cabellas? Seems like I have some credit there...

yes pr cabelas has a crosslock made with the s30v and now after hearing from jb and mike i think i will add that to my list there is also a 691 (?) i think it is i like it except for the zipper
they have about a half dozen with the s30

the only hunting i do is varmint and women but i think i will get one of these just for the shelf , but i think i seen a while ago they have a plain model with a seat belt cutter along with the blade ? i remember thinking i should have them in my trucks for emergencies
ps i was in your photo album checking it out and you have a nice collection that is the first i have seen serrated 103's
and that little burlwood you have is that a 522 ?? i just had another look and it looks like a 425 with buffalo and cherrywood ?? it is the one marked trevors

I have a sv30 crosslock, great blade, but the knife seems a little small and not very ergonomic in design.

Without one in hand, I may have to agree with Yoop for now. If they stretched on out some I might be more interested. Spoiled to the 110 blade.

That comes from years and years and years of using a 110 on deer and turkey, or whatever.

yes i can see how for a real work knife it would be small but for a pocket carry or emergencies it should be sufficient, i have been thinking about it for about five minutes and realized i dont have a single buck that i use lol ,so it would be fine for on the shelf with the rest lol

That's why I like the old style 180 with a large drop point blade, you can do just about anything with this blade and it ergo. It's cheap and sweeeeeet. If you look long and hard you can find a new one for under $20. These are light weight and fill your hand, the blade action is so smooth with a little wrist action it's just like a gravity knife;). I've got 3 of them, black on black, green on black, and a multi blade in camo:).

Yes sir Buckman! The plain model with seatbelt cutter is the Code 3 crosslock.
I have seen the serrated 103's before but not many. I believe it was sold through cabelas a few years back. It has pro line on the box but no etch on the blade. The little one in trevors knife collection is a 526 IC. Cherrywood/impala horn mirror blade. I bought a matching consecutive serial #ed pair for my 2 boys.

I forgot to add I hunt ducks, geese, grouse, doves, and deer.
