Hi All you Buck Nuts,

I have a request for those of us that have an AG Stag 110, can you take a look at your knife and report what your blades tang stamp date reads? Then please report what you have and maybe post a photo if you can.

A fellow posted on the BCCI facebook page asking about a stag 110 that has the DLC (Buck Inc identified the coating), his knife is date coded upsidedown T 2004 MFG. His knife dose not have the pad printed Ram logo of the AG series knives and Buck Inc told him it must be a Proto of the 2006 issue from the AG 110 stags or a Buildout for a factory sale. I have 4 of the AG stag 110s and guess what, 3 have 2004 tang stamps and one has 2007? I bought two of these directly from Cabela's store in 06 and never noticed the 04 date on the blades and the third & fourth ones I got in trades with our members here on this site. The fellow asking dose not have a box or paperwork and when he got the knife it was not in an AG marked sheath.

I believe his knife is one of the 2006 issue knives that someone removed the pad printed Ram from the blade. That is why I'm asking those of you who have one or more of the AG stag 110s to look and see what year your blade was made. Thank you everyone in advance.

Here are the ones I have

Yes cccanada, there was a whole thread on how to remove the logo. Some used solvents and elbow grease and others scraped it off.

I picked this one up in 2013 at the Buck store while attending the BCCI 25th Anniversary gathering.
Blade date code for 2007.

Thank you James,

Two of mine have boxes. However, the boxes are stored in several boxes in the addict and not easy gotten too. One there BCCI member shared his and his is also a 2007 stamp. So now of the 7 we have on record 4 have 2004 dates and 3 have 2007 dates.

I havnt found the knife or box but i am supposed to have one listed as b110-sp73-0 dated 2004
I thought it had nickle bolsters but after seeing your pics i must be remembering wrong

Any other stag Alaskan Guide owners out there who can share a bit of information?

Here is the tang stamp on one of mine. I will try to remember to take a picture of the other one after I finish my coffee. Unfortunately I don’t have the sheaths for this one because I ended up ruining the sheath for my carry one snd without thinking foolishly took the one from this knife to use as the carry. It’s going to one of my kids anyway so the will face to deal with a regular sheath.FB7EB7D3-5D88-4C30-AD72-ED43953B4B30.jpeg

Thank you Kyhunt,

Another 2004, now I'm interested to see what your other one is!

That's awesome a 2005 with stag. I have a standard AG wood 2005.

Thanks for sharing
JB

I really never gave it a thought to be honest. Both were ordered directly from Cabelas. One was a Christmas present from my wife in 2007. Both ordered in 2007 before Christmas.

One is DLC and one is not? (DLC)= Diamond Like Coating. Which is shiny and the newer painted blade which are cheaper.

Actually with these the duller finished blades are older than the shiny ones. I don’t remember what the finish on the duller ones were called. I haven’t seen the new painted ones.

The new coating is Bucks inhouse Cerakote. I can see putting a painted coating over a steel like the spring steel stuff and when it wears off you just spray more paint on to stop/slow rusting.

However, the DLC is a fantastic coating. To bad Buck changed the design as the Cerakote finish is ruff and will not last like the DLC does. I will not buy any of the new AG knives.

I’m going to have to make a drive in the future to Cabelas or Bp just to take a look at them.
