Anybody been to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta?

It seems like a blast, from what I've read, but at the same time, it must be a scheduling nightmare because of all the folks showing up at the same time.

Any suggestions for someone thinking of going there for the first time?

I'm sure it's spectacular, but I don't do well in large crowds. 'Billions' of people, traffic... Instead I watch on TV. :)

There are park-and-ride programs available, and the RailRunner (New Mexico commuter train) may make a stop nearby.

Maybe consider some of the small New Mexico balloon rallies where you can avoid the crowds, be up close to the balloons, and even volunteer for a balloon crew.

Don't forget the camera!

It is nice. Of course you have to wait until next October. The Glowdeo is fun. Use the park and ride if you decide to come because parking is a nightmare.

I fly to ABQ a few times a year
I was renting a car and I asked the guy about the Balloon Festival
He said the rental car agencies HATE the balloon festival!!
It cause A LOT of accidents
I guess driving and looking at the sky do not mix!!!

Not sure about the scheduling nightmare
Book your rooms in advance
I think the problem is shortage of hotel rooms...
