Here's a new one, up and gone!

FOAldebaranDendriticAgate1.jpg

Type: A investment grade working or collector's knife
Size: Length overall: 10.125" (25.7 cm), Blade Length: 5.25" (13.3 cm), Thickness: .1875" (.48 cm)

Weight: Blade: 8.5 oz. Sheath: 4.5 oz.
Blade: ATS-34 High Molybdenum Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C59, mirror polished
Fittings/Bolsters: 304 Stainless Steel, mirror polished
Handle: Polished Dendritic Agate Gemstone
Sheath: Alligator Skin Inlaid in Hand-Tooled 9-10 oz. Leather Shoulder

This is a knife with a clean, long and substantial blade, brightly mirror polished with the beauty that only ATS-34 can offer. The blade has full filework, a very regimented, extremely clean and geometric pattern. The bolsters are zero-care 304 austenitic stainless steel, which I left clean and polished to match the bright blade. They're dovetailed to hold a beautiful pair of Forest Green Dendritic (treelike) Agate gemstone scales, which are very hard and tough, and hold a bright polish well. This is a very meaty, strong, thick knife, and the handle is one of the most comfortable in my inventory.

Aldebaran deserved a special sheath, so I chose real Alligator skin for the inlays on the sheath. The sheath body is 9-10 oz. leather shoulder, hand-carved and stitched with polyester sinew, edge sealed and lacquered for longevity and value.

Jay,
I get the pleaure of saying "nice package" twice. I like the other one better, but not by much. Excellent!

Thanks for your kind words.
I didn't want to do too much to this one. The ATS34 has a very clean, clear polish, and the 304 SS bolsters matched it so well that I thought engraving it might make it too busy. The clarity of the steel goes well with the bright white of the agate. The alligator really added some organic warmth to the whole arrangement.

What a way to make a living, huh?
