I posted a bunch of blades up for sale awhile back. I had forged this one from Aldo's 1084.... but it didn't sell right off, so I decided to rough grind it. Then I heat-treated it. Then I finish ground it. Then I decided, what the heck, may as well hand sand it.... You get the idea. ;)

You don't have to keep it exactly as forged.... I normally do, but you don't HAVE to.

Love the oak. There's a lot going on in the grain. Did it sand as smooth as it looks or did you have to fill anywhere?

The transition at the choil is something I don't see on your work often but it sure looks nice on this knife.

Regards, Fred

Nick, your work is simply amazing. I can't think of a better way to describe it. That offer still stands. I'll pick up all the dog crap and mow the grass on your entire property for an opportunity to spend a day with you learning in the shop.

Wow the way that knife flows is amazing. Great work

That looks great Nick! My shipping address is.....

Haha seriously, beautiful work as always. Soon i will be contacting you about one to add to my collection.
Keep it up!

Mike

You keep churning out all these knives with such attention to detail and finish...

It's really getting kind of boring.

Mix it up a bit, would ya? Do something that sucks, just so we can establish that you're human and not...

...well...

Thanks Nick. For 'shop talk', the pictures and your video say a whole bunch.

Great knife, and thanks for taking the time, Craig

Seeing pieces as nice as this is what keeps me trying. In the hopes that someday I can create a piece half as nice as that. Your choice of materials is great, your proportion is pefect, and the execution is outstanding.

Beautiful work.

Thanks guys :)

I got the oak from Chuck Bybee at Alpha Knife Supply. I know a lot of the burl blew apart during stabilizing, so I don't know how much Chuck actually got from the burl. I bought the piece about 4 years ago. http://www.alphaknifesupply.com

Fred, thanks for the kind words. :) I'm not sure what you mean about the transition at the choil though.

I really didn't have to fill anything on this wood. It's normal practice for me to do my 320 and 500 grit sanding on wood handles with Tru Oil, just to make sure everything is filled and sealed well. But I didn't have to do anything with wood filler or super glue. It's really just an outstanding piece of wood. :)

That oak burl is stunning.
