Hello Folks!

It looks like a teardrop jack to me but I may be wrong.

I purchased this today at an Antique Store. The tang stamp states it’s an Alfred Williams Sheffield England. As you can see it has numerous issues. The main blade rests higher than it should and has many scratches. The pen blade has some active rust issues and the scales are somewhat faded. There are also gaps in the frame. Other than that I see it as a nice old knife that needs some TLC!!

I can either leave it the way it is or I can try and correct some of the problems.

What do you think? Is it worth fixing?

Since the knife looks to be more or less in user condition, anything you can do to improve it certainly won't devalue it. Nice old relic that could use some TLC.
Get a lot of opinions and advice before you proceed, IMO.

Sorry All.

In retrospect I probably shouldn't have made this post.

The knife isn't worth investing in saving.

I will place it in my cigar box of knives that are nice enough to save because they are old, and deserve not to be tossed out in the garbage.

I think it's agreat user, lots of blade, great pattern, looks like horn scales. I'd do a gentle clean upon the blades with oil and a roughish cloth to see how it looks. I have been carefully playing with coconut oil on my user handles. I put a tiny drop on my fingers and sit and rub it like a worry stone. It brings old bone and horn to life again.

Best regards

I think it was worth posting!
It's a nice old brand!! I have a shadowbox of relics I am collecting, because they make an interesting display. Most are in more worn condition than yours!!
I think there is a relic thread around somewhere . . . . . . . . . .
