Don't know if anyone watches the show "Alias", but last nights episode featured two Khukuri's. The main character and a foreign alli were wearing two large Khuk's with brown scabbards on a top secret adventure. Pretty much brief glances and a quick flash of the blade as she used it to remove a hand that was stuck in a secret compartment in a cave with it collapsing around them. Couldn't really identify the blade, but it looked like some sort of military version especially with brown scabbard and all. Just an FYI for those who like to see the Khuk on film and might want to catch the repeat.

:eek: Am I reading that part in bold correctly? If so, double :eek:! That would be painful.

Not nearly like sawing/hacking it off with a SAK, or even worse, gnawing it off with your teeth.:rolleyes: ;) :D

Castaway finally came on regular TV so Barb and I watched it. I could almost feel it when he kncked his tooth out with a bar and a rock!!!!
At least cutting off your hand with a khuk would make it quick although I'm sure I would be out for hours, that is if it didn't kill me with pain, let alone bleeding to death.
 
RR, a friend I met in Desert Storm, Corporal Wayne Hunt, British Royal Signal Corps, told me one time of witnessing a ghurkha lop off a miscreant fellow's hand with his khukuri while they were down in Belize for some training. Trust me bud, my reaction was same as yours.

Dang, that's the kind of stuff Ghurka's do for training?! No wonder they've got such a reputation. :D Actually, I'm genuinely curious just because I would be very surprised if such a thing were shown on network TV.
 
I'm a big Alias fan, and yes, she lopped off his hand with a kukri. Pretty cool (as long as you're not the guy with the missing hand).:D
