I've used several different makes of hatchet and still own a few of them. Nothing as grand as a GB, but they did what I thought was a good job. I've also used several machetes, my favorite being an old military issue jungle bolo by Case. Wish I had it back. Razor sharp, lite weight and one mean chopping tool. I havn't used a golok, but am assuming that they are somewhat similar to the bolo. Then I bought my Khukuri. It chops like a hatchet, clears smaller vegetation like a machete and weighs about the same as the bolo.
I'd choose the khuk over the other tools that I've used simply because of it's versatility in the field. Of course, it may not chop as well as other tools or clear brush as well as others, but in a one tool do it all situation, I think the Khuk comes out on top.
