I have been looking for what I would consider a good all around fixed blade with a 3 to 4 inch blade that would be well suited for an EDC and an excellent user in the kitchen.

I have been studying the Bark River Blackwater Boot Knife and that seems to be a pretty good fit. That being said I am open to any suggestions form those of you that spend as much time in the kitchen as in camp and have found your "ideal" blade. Thanks as always for your help.

Yes, I did try the search function.

The BRKT Upland shines in the kitchen and can handle outdoor work just as well. If you are like those of us who longingly remember the trailing point blades we "cut our teeth on," it is a good choice.

Here's mine (pictured with my custom Ken Erickson Trapper):

I think the Benchmade Nimravus has a very utilitarian blade shape as well. I know it's probably not meant for it, but I think it'd be great in the kitchen. I'd get the 154CM model though instead of D2 for obvious reasons.

I bought a Spyderco Bill Moran Featherweight a few months ago, and I agree if you want a light utility knife this is it. The handle is very comfortable and the flat ground blade cuts like a dream.
The one downside is that I had trouble with the sheath collecting dirt and dulling the knife, I would suggest scrapping the stock sheath from the start and getting a custom leather sheath made.

the RAT-3 is a great camp knife. You might want something a bit thinner if you plan on doing a bunch of kitchen use. Although, i think is has a great belly for kitchen duties.
