This the never ending knife. I need to put in three pins and that's it. I really didn't mean for it to look like a cheap imatition of Bruce Evans Bowie. Just a little around the blade. It just happened, really Bruce.
;)

Blade 17"
5160 steel
Framed Handle
Fishtail oak on the handle and sheath and zebrawood endcaps on the sheath.

I know I have a keen grasp of the obvious, but looks like everybody needs to store their images somewhere else.

 Got me! It was coming up fine when I posted. It wasn't there when I just came on. I went to image station to see if they were down and came back and the image was back! ....AND IN THE TIME IT TOOK TO WRITE THIS, IT'S GONE AGAIN?

Looks Good,I think the angle of the lay of the knife makes it look swordlike.Looks good regardless.

Glad you think so. It is supposed to be a sword. In the mid 1700's Hunters began to shorten full sized sabers to use as an supplementary weapon while hunting. About the time of the American reveloution people had started to make them more slimlined and more elegant for the yuppies. (Kinda like SUV's now-a-days) These were for these wannabees to carry in town. They were called "Cuttos" The name comes from the french phrase "couteaux de chasse" I have no idea what it means but I expect it's something like "Oh yes, I'm a hunter, Muffin" Anyway...the true hunting swords had blades ranging from 16 to 20 inches and as a rule were rather plain.

I'm a bow hunter and I just had to have one to hook to my cat quiver. This is a very Napped reproduction of one I saw in a private collection.

I don't understand the on and off picture but if you right click on the link both s Stu and I posted, copy the shortcut, paste it in the address bar and hit enter, it will take you to it. Sorry

Hi Peter,
Nice job!, sure does look like a hunting sword. You might have to go on one of those hawg hunts with Mr. Harley over there in Tenn.
ImageStation will not host pictures to linked sites any more, so your advice about copying the shortcut and pasting into your browser is the
way to go.
Regards,
Greg

Couteaux de chasse:

Chasser is the verb to hunt. Couteaux is knife. So, you have yourself a hunting knife! I forget what the word is for sword, but I'm pretty sure it isn't couteaux.

Peter, that was worth the effort! I'd like to see some detail shots if you're willing to brave Imagestation frustration again... Thanks for sharing, that's a cool knife. Is it being added to your own collection?
