Thought maybe there would be some interest in seeing the baldric rig with a Fiddleback 12" machete and Fiddleback KPH riding on top. The machete gave a bit more room for the KPH and seems to fit together well. The owner has a Kephart and says it will fit in the bottom cup, but does have some movement. The KPH is wide at the tip and I think that many other models would interchange very well in the same cup. Not the best of photos, but I was in a hurry, late in the afternoon to get photos to it's new owner.Ryan L. 002.jpgRyan L. 001.jpg

That is a really slick set up! I would really love to have something like this some day. I've been dreaming of getting my hands on a larger Fiddleback (Machete, Camp Knife or Competition Cutter) and this type of sheath set up is ideal: looks like you've got the leather strap for baldric style carry but also the standard belt loops so this could be worn at the waist? Of course I also love the piggyback options. Great set up!

Do you think you could do the same for with a Competition Cutter or a Camp Knife???

I think it would work with a Comp. Cutter or Camp Knife, but the rider would need to be a smaller blade. A Bushboot, Hiking Buddy, any of the Kardas, F2, maybe an Arete. I'd have to play with the patterns to be sure. The belt loop is usable for waist carry, as needed.

Looks awesome Rick, almost as nice as the one you made for me! :devilish: That one is for Hike, right? He's gonna love it, pics dont do these sheaths justice though.

Nice RLo!
What's the deal on the "Baldric" rig. Guess I need to come off the mountain more often. I'd never heard of them before, but have gotten three orders for that style rig/knife combos (sans piggy-back) since Jan. So had to study up. May have to call you and see what the "awkraps" are for the leather work. One of them is for hanging a Hymi. Farm Knife I already made/sold (kinda big for that type carry).

Thats the best looking baldric piggyback combo I've ever seen. Nice work. I want one for sure.

Complete and total crap.

I demand you send it to me NOW.

You should be ashamed.

p.s. The pocket for the smaller blade is NOT easy to do - and was done VERY well - nice rig all the way around.

just beautiful! wow! i love it! would feel like strider using it! just a matter of time before i gotta jump on it...hehehe!
great job!

Tal- My first layouts for this style were exactly what you described:eek: Took some serious brain work to get everything where it needed to be and look right. Needless to say, been a lot of my brain cells killed off over the years, so took a while to get put together. That little cup was a chore, but finally developed a way to make it form out right.

Rick,

Isn't it funny the stuff you obsess about.

Honestly - for me - I think it would have taken a wooden blank and a foam and clamp set to be happy. If it was a onsey - twosey thing - I would use a wooden form and hand form it - but you are making quite a few.

I TOTALLY understand the brain power. You make two cuts.... sit back... stare.... get a drink.... stare some more.... screw it up.... start over.... ;)

Doesn't matter - in your case - the hard work and brain power turned out. I am not a huge fan of the Baldric style - but you executed it well - and I totally see if a person just trough this over their shoulder when they went hiking - how it would get you out of most issues.

Tal-It's a leather form screwed onto a small block of wood and then a kydex form to fit over the wet leather which is then clamped all around. Saving the leather patterns and kydex forms will allow similar applications as needed.

Yeah, I'm with you on the multiple cuts and staring. Sometimes the frustration level gets to the point of quit and get multiple drinks....:D

I purchased one of these rigs recently for my 12" Machete/KPH Combo. Absolutely amazing work and I couldn't be happier with it! Thanks again, Rick!

Oooooohhhh wait...those pics are of mine!! Deerppp...

I will get some more pics of this rig once I am out and about in the backcountry this spring.

I saw RLo pull a ligament behind his left ear thinking once.....pretty bad! Walked around in circles for a couple of days mumbling about what kind of gravy to serve with his anvil and tongs. Took several good whacks with a two pounder just to stop the circling and still can't get a gravy recipe out of him.
Judging by his sheath output I think he's skeered to lite his forge.

Great work Brother, hope your Tipper gets home soon.
