I was looking at the Spyderco forum on there website and love this idea. I am waiting for a moderator to approve my registration, and figured while I wait to post this over here in case some haven't heard yet.

The idea was to bring back the Spyderhawk knife in the Salt series knives. The hawkbill knives are my favorite blade style, and I believe they are more versatile than many people think. I never got a chance at this knife since they discontinued it before I got into folders and discovered Spyderco. So I am extremely excited to get a chance at a large hawkbill.

So who else here would want one? I'd buy one in both SE and PE.

I'll say the same thing I said on the Spyderco forum, if they come out I will definitely buy one.

The atlantic salt has a slight hawkbill to it.And the harpy,i wished they make the harpy in a non serrated blade.

Have you seen the Tasman Salt? The blade is shorter and the curve is less pronounced, but it's a hawkbill and it's H1, so it's as close as you can get right now. It makes an excellent fishing knife, BTW.

Historically, Spyderco has brought us a fair number of hawkbills (more than anyone else), and is continuing to crank out new designs in H1; I would say that it's only a matter of time before we see a larger, more weapon-oriented hawkbill in H1.

That's my problem with it. Sal chimed in on that thread saying he would probably change the blade to something more like the Superhawk, which is exactly what I don't want. I like the curve of the Spyderhawk. I'd buy a couple of them in H-1 with that same blade. I don't have a Superhawk, and I wouldn't buy the Superhawk blade in an H-1 Salt.

As I said in that thread, IF the tooling for the Spyderhawk blade still exists, and IF that tooling will work for H-1 as it did for VG-10, I'd like to see a Sprint Run of H-1 Spyderhawks in yellow FRN. I wouldn't care if they still said Pacific Salt on the handle, like one batch of Spyderhawks that said Endura on the handles. I think it would be a viable way to test the market before commiting to a new model. But then, Sal knows a lot more about marketing than I do.

I like the idea of an H-1 Superhawk (or any other hawkbill for that matter). I just wish we could get something with that awesome reverse-S curve like the Civilian, Dodo, and Matriarch. The Superhawk, with its wide blade and heft is a great candidate IMHO.

Yes!!!
We all wait for the Spyderhawk comes back in Salt series.
And please keep the same dimension as original Spyderhawk!!!
That's why how we miss it.

Hmmm, what would it be called? Atlantichawk, Pacifichawk, Salthawk, Rustlesshawk. Or my fav, Tasmanhawk. I'd be down for one, especially since in FRN it would be a better EDC rotation than my Superhawk. How about a matched set with the LadyHawk?

If a H1 spyderhawk were to come into production,I would purchase a few of them.

I like my Tasman, but sometimes I wish it were bigger,to get the job done easier.

id rather have a dodo to tell you the truth. the spyderhawk and crossbill are too alike for my taste and the crossbill is so much cheaper but I still love it to death.

I have to argue with you there. The blade of the Spyderhawk was longer and had a more pronounced tip. The blade shape of the crossbill is more like the Superhawk.

As for the name I like what some one of the Spyderco forum said. Sticking with the theme of naming knives after bodies of water Bering Salt, a mean looking blade for a mean sea.

Well you could always go buy a dodo, but a h1 seahawk doesn't exist so why rain on the parade? :)

The Tasman salt sounds like what i need.

One of each in pe & se with h1 steel with a yellow frn handle like on the pacific/atlantic salt series ala (Endura 3) please!
I believe they would sell !
regards,r.Taylor.

I love Hawkbills

I also love the SpyderHawk.
But there hard to find, and expensive when you do.

I would love to see a new Spyderhawk. Be in VG-10 or H1.
