Took my BK9 on an overnight with a friend to get away for a bit. I guess the 9 wanted to retire a little earlier than I had expected.

I was chopping away and never really looked at the blade until my chips started to get a little less flung, and my notch in the pine stopped deepening.

I see a beautiful recurve in your future. Maybe you can get one of the guys to take care of that for you.

Where were you, what were you chopping and how cold was it???

I was chopping a smaller pine (think 2-3 inches thick), wasn't knotty. As for the temperature it was around 50s at the time when this happened.

I'd offer to regrind it for you, but I'll bet Toooj will want that one back for a look.

Ya, that's not supposed to happen. Tradewater is right Tooj will want to take a look at it for sure. But at least you will be gettin' a shiny new 9 for Christmas.

That'll get replaced.

Interesting though......

Would they replace it ? Given the nature of the knife that would fall under normal use. It seems to me that KaBar would stand behind the product.

While it is great to hear that it will be replaced, the thought of a recurve 9 is far too interesting to overlook. I may need to buy one and send it to RichardJ and have it recurved and sharpened. Thanks for putting thoughts like this in my cranial cavity.
