Ps. i love knives

Two blade Equal End Jack---looks Imperial-ish to me? I know Camillus made knives had a USA tang stamp as well.

I asked the same question (USA stamped knife) when I first joined the forum. Someone said that if the blade is flat on one side, it's probably made by Ideal.

In searching the web, all three of the patent numbers shown on the blade (2170537, 2284833, 2689400) lead back to Imperial Knife Company, Inc., Providence, RI.

Looks like the patents are related to the method and machinery used to form the stamped, one-piece scale/bolster/covering commonly found on old Imperial knives.

I bought an Imperial at a thrift shop once, and it was in with a bunch of "USA" tagged knives that look just like this -- part of a collection, the cashier said. I bet those numbers are patent numbers -- well, I just checked, the first is an Imperial patent. Is it a shell-handle? Can you see tabs on the ends wrapping around the liners?

Imperial interwove with Hammer Brand and Schrade in ways I don't know, but others here do -- my guess is Imperial/Hammer.

Edit: Whoops! Obsessed With Edges beat me to the google patent search!
