Do the Buck Dealer Catalog and Buck Price List list all the knife models and color combinations available for that particular year?
For some reason, I have recently decided that I need a Buck PakLite Large Skinner (141) that was discontinued a few years ago. When searching for one, a couple pop up on the auction site that are marked as new with sheath, but do not come with the retail packaging. The cheap ($20) price on a discontinued knife is a little bit of a warning, while not coming with the retail packaging is another. A third warning is that the auction photos show a PakLite all black model with a 2017 production date. In looking at the 2017 dealer catalog and 2017 price list, Buck does not list a black oxide/black traction model for 2017. Both the catalog and price list only list model 0141SSS which is the stainless steel model. The last year I see a black oxide/black traction model listed is in the 2015 catalog where it is listed as 0141BKS and looks like the knife in the top photo. A fourth warning is that the auction is for the all black knife in the photo below. Even though the PakLite line is discontinued, I cannot find a photo or listing for the all black model from any reputable knife dealer. This is a very long summary, but what are your thoughts on the catalog and price list containing all of the normal production knife models produced in a given year? I realize there are special models sold at only certain dealers, but I am asking about the normal production run models.
I have no intention of buying the auction knife as I am 99% sure that it is counterfeit.
