I just received a used but very good condition BM710BKD2 that I bought as a user and found the clip to be very loose. I immediately checked all my user Benchmades and found all the clips suffering from the wobbles.

Well I don't have a T6 so I had to buy the Benchmade torx kit. So I should find out if this is just a issue Loctite will fix or if the screws are stripping in the G10.

So is this a problem for everyone? With all my BM's clip being loose, I expect the screws don't bit into the liners. :grumpy:

Anyway, any comments on this issue appreciated. g

Sorry to hear that. In all honesty I've heard more complaints about BM using too much locktite on clip screws then the other way around.
To answer you question, other then few older (much older) models those screws are not threaded into G10, but into into steel inserts And yes, locktite should help.

Go to your local Home Depot/Lowes and pick up a Husky Precision Screwdriver set. It's taken down ever knife I own and some I don't.

Edit

I just checked my Benchmades and none of the clips have any play to them.

None of mine are loose...the Husky 8-bit Torx is a great value at about six bucks or so...if you use loctite, make sure you clean the threads with lighter fluid or something like that first, and never use anything stronger the blue/242 (purple 222 is better but much harder to find).

By the way, the Husky bits are a better fit than any of my (many) other, more expensive, Torx bits. That's a big plus, since it helps reduce the chance of stripping the heads.

Had a few blades that the clips came loose didnt want to use locktite so i tried some telflon tape none have come loose since .

If you don't have any loctite some of the wife's clear nail polish will do the job.

Thanks for all the Advice guys!! I'm glad to hear that the screws do seat down into the liners. I do have the medium (blue) loctite because of a pivot screw on another used 710 I bought to use (fixed the pivot right up).

Thanks again!

EVERY Benchmade knife I have has problem with loose screws in one place or another , blue thread locker from auto parts store works fine .

I have never had problems with loose screws except for the pivot screw. However some loctite fixes it up. Just make sure to shake the bottle good so it's not real runny and let it sit over night to set up correctly.

Most of my EDC's are Benchmade.

All of my older BM's had clip screw problems. I had to replace screws and clips on over 50% of them.
IIRC, BM had Chicago Screw or someone else making their screws for them then changed over to in-house mfg.
I've always found their screws (in the models I've owned) to be too soft and the threads end up giving out.

I'm curious as to which models those were. This is the first complaint I've ever heard about soft screws. Perhaps it was a Chicago Screw problem?

Go to the Dollar store and get a cheap Torx kit. They stock them all the time, unless you happen to need one:)

You made me curious, so I double checked my BMs and their clips are solid. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Just checked as well, and they're pretty solid. I suggest you tighten the screws a little

Two used 710's I bought as users and a Grip I bought new and have had for years.

I got my Torx kit in and tightened them up. T6's kinda hard to find. If they come loose again, I'll loctite them.

LOL, No freaking kidding Captain Obvious!!! The reason I posted the thread is I wanted to see if this was common. It doen't seem to be. I have the Benchmade Torx kit now so I'm set I think.

I do carry clipped into the back right pocket. Could be I'm banging the clip into my armrest in the office chair or something like that.

Thank you everybody for your comments even Captain Obvious!
