Ladies and Gents, this is a new concept in a custom folder. The auto mechanism is a coil sprung "triple action". This final working prototype pictured here has three distinct operating modes:

1) Thumb stud manual opening.

2) Press down on button for automatic "presentation" 1/2 open mode.

3) Slide button back for full automatic opening mode.

This has been a project a year in the making and involving a 3 man team

This triple action concept knife was the brain child of Michael Vagnino. He conceived, designed, and made this finished prototype.

The actual triple action engineering and CAD work for the mechanism was done by machinist Boyd Britt.

The damascus blade and bolsters were forged by Tim Hancock.

We saw several prototypes over the last year using various triple action mechanisms which all were unique concepts on their own, but this is the final ingenious version.

As shown:

Blade length = 3"
OAL = 7"
Blue Ti liners
Presentation MOP scales
Damascus back spacer
Sculpted dual thumb stud

This is a truely impressive custom knife with superaltive fit, finish, and never before seen "triple action".

The proud 3 man team plan on producing a 20 piece run of this elegant, engineering marvel.

We will have this on display at the April Oregon Custom Knife Show in Eugene. Please feel free to come by our table and have a look-see.

We when we received this prototype today we knew it was time to share with all custom and auto fans.

I hope I'll be able to hitchhike down I-5 to make the show!

the April Oregon show is my favorite. it is my favorite selection of knives and makers. plus it is one of the friendliest to "springers". if you're in the neighborhood it is not to be missed. i like it better than the June Blade Show in Atlanta.

Unbelieveable!! I am in love! Man I wants I wants! Maybe in the year 3000 ;-) Still I can always dream, right? Man that is a serious knife there, beautiful and a new mechanical design. Send one to my house, I'll "beta" test it for ya. See how well it rides in my pocket.

Kudos to the triumvirate of knife design, Michael, Boyd and Tim, you guy be "de men!"

I'm lucky enough to live in the Bay Area near Patrick and Josh. Friday I took a long lunch and had the pleasure of holding the new triple action. The attention to detail is fantastic. I really like the presentation mode. It’s safe and trick at the same time. When you play with this knife the quality screams at you. Good luck with the awesome new design.

Regards,

Rick Tucci

Thanks Patrick.

What a fantastic knife congratulations Michael, Tim and Boyd.

Hi Patrick,
Great knife and thanks for sharing. I'll definitely check it out at your table at this year's OKCA show. Did you know as of this year, the OKCA show is now the biggest show in the country and like you say, the absolute best for "snappers".

Hey Pat, very nice looking knife. looks like I may have to get one or two of those when you have them.
