Sometimes it is OK to make one just for the fun of it. I have been taking a blacksmith class at Haywood Community College and thought I would incorporate some of the things I have been learning with my bladesmithing. This is my first knife made from 52100 round stock which worked well to make the rope twist and taper to the shepherds hook. Overall length is 13 1/4 inches with a 7 1/2 inch blade.

Good looking Gerry,it's good to see someone embrace forged blades and run with it like you did.Plus your skill learned in such a short time, keep it up,been missing you at the meetings:thumbup::thumbup:Regards Butch

I'm not sure if that was the idea or not, but it would make a really unique kitchen knife. The blade design and height of the handle look like they give enough room.

I like that a lot. Clean, good design with its own character. A nice take on the more common blacksmith's knives (which I also like).
