does anyone know the original swiss tool had the corkscrew slot or not?or only newer version of the tool had?

The original SwissTool had round holes which were said to be places to attach a lanyard. I don't know when the change to the corkscrew slot occurred.

I recently bought a SwissTool RS which came with the corkscrew slots. Also, my SwissTool Spirit has the corkscrew slots as well.

My original didn't, then a newer one I bought to put away did.

anyone had their orginal swiss tool had a corkscrew slot?or only the x and RS model had?

I bought a swisstool in 2001 it just had the holes. It was stolen and Ijust replaced it last week. The new one has a hard wire cutting notch otherwise its identical to my old one, still no slots(though judging by the packaging and price it may have been old stock)

Well, I mean I bought a Swiss Tool when they first came out and that has holes. I just bought a Boy Scout Swiss Tool (same as original, just with the BSA logo) and it has the slot.

Yes there is . I had mine replaced under warrenty and the replacement one had the long slot instead of the round hole and the plier jaws are different a bit like the spirit , still cant find any pics on the net of the new one .

I think it is very probable that we are going to see more changes on the original SwissTool. Reports thus far talk about the plier head being changed to the one designed for the ST Spirit. That seems logical considering manufacturing economy and inventory management.

Looking at the Spirit, there is a totally new scissors design being used. It looks far more durable than the Vic leaf spring. I won't be surprised to see that incorporated into the ST and perhaps all the knives eventually.

For those of us who collect as well as use these wonderful tools, I think we are going to be in a world of variation hurt ;)

Best - Joe
