All this talk of "Gentleman's Folders", what about a "Lady's Folder"?

I know SAK has some pink scales, and my wife does have a Classic, but are there some other folders out there suitable for the ladies?

My wife is a teacher and something elegant, simple, and small may be useful in her classroom. I'm sure some of the ladies here can provide some input.

My wife carries:
-Spyderco Lava
-Benchmade 707 Sequel
-Blue Spyderco Delica

She like them all, and they fit into those stupid tiny pockets they think women want. :)

I guess if you are looking for something that would be a stereotypical ladies knife...a delica would work, a pastel colored mini griptilian, or an Otter Messer. Personally I like a BK11 or a Spyderco Native5

I know SAK has some pink scales, ....

Why is it always "pink", whenever a dude asks about a knife for a woman? If I gave my wife a pink knife, I think she'd stab me with it.

She carries an old Northwoods sambar stag half Congress slippie.

I think the pink was for breast cancer awareness wasn't it?

Also, my wife is not the most girly of the girls, but she is very much a lady. She did grow up shooting rifles and pistols, but it isn't anything she is interested in doing now.

My wife likes slip joints since she doesn't want to have to fiddle with a lock. And to be fair she does like the pink ones.

An idea:
Buy her a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian or Spyderco Delica in a few different colours.
That way, the knife can be matched to the overall outfit.
(sometimes I do that myself...)

my wife loves pinks and purples, but that doesn't mean her knife has to be one of those colors. Her SAK Classic is classic red.

You can try a Kershaw Leek, Scallion, or Chive.

My wife has the rainbow versions and pink versions of the Chive, Scallion, and Leek (she actually has almost all of the versions of the Chive). Her favorites are the Spyderco Dragonfly Tattoo and Domino, and all of the Kershaw Damascus knives.

Ulu literally translates to woman's knife. Besides that, I don't see why women can't enjoy the same knives that men do.

You are quite correct!
My understanding of this name ULu for being a woman's knife was that traditionally the men did the fishing & hunting and the women did the processing of the hunt.

I saw a b & w film from the 1930's that showed several Inuit women with Ulu knives processing some large Salmon for drying. The didn't miss a beat or waste any effort gutting and filleting those Salmon with a Ulu.

This  Only difference I see is smaller average hand size. I just got a mini-grip, and it fits my little lady-hands fine:)

Unless the question is specifically a knife to wear with dressy clothes. That can be tricky- it's got to either fit in a purse (hard to access quickly) or tiny pockets if one is lucky enough to find them. There was a thread some time ago in Traditionals about knife pendants- pretty cool stuff.

Spyderco Dragonfly Tattoo.
Ms BVI humored me by coming along on a pilgrimage to the mothership in Golden Colorado.
She got with the program and bought this one for her own bad self. Uses it all the time.

My GF has a classic on her keys, my Mom carries a Christy knife (not a folder, but still a classy little knife) or a Leatherman Micra in her purse. My boss carries a little stockman or a Paul Prankster in her purse. Many of my female students carry a pocket tool of some sort.

Benchmade Nagara, if you can find one. One of the most elegant knives for anyone.

I bought my wife a standard black Dragonfly and she carries it in her purse. It is strictly a tool for her.

My daughter wanted a knife when she was about 18. I was envisioning something like the dragonfly but we went shopping and she picked out a black/black mini-griptilian. Recently I bought her a green Spyderco Tenacious and that is what she carries now. She also took my green Ladybug but I don't know if she carries it or not.

I would think that a lady could carry any SAK and it would fit in OK, in fact I was packpacking in the Grand Canyon one time and met a lady carrying a small SAK on her keyring. There are lots of small folders that would be good for a lady, and I don't know that they have to be pink. Dragonfly, mini-griptilian, even a Delica. If a lady wanted a nicer knife there is something like the Spyderco Sage, Spyderco Bradley Air, and a couple of similar Benchmades, and all the way up to a Bradley Alias II.
